How to Make Gorgeous Flower Arrangements!

You can even order flower arrangements online!

Flower arrangements are the perfect finishing touch to any room, a lovely accent to any home decor. Any look you are going for, whether it be simple and elegant, cheerful and playful, or full of old-fashioned charm, a flower arrangement may be just the accessory you need to pull your room together, whether you order them online or create them yourself.

Flower arrangements can be made from fresh flowers, dried flowers, and silk flowers, even using dried grasses, pine boughs during the holidays, or other interesting and creative items like dried chili peppers and gourds. You are only truly limited by your imagination. Fresh flowers can be purchased loose from your local florist, and most craft stores carry dried and silk flowers and other accessories.

Once you’ve decided on what type of flowers you’d like to use in your flower arrangement, the next step is to decide on a basic shape or style. A very simple thing to do is to put a single flower or a few flowers with the stems cut to different lengths in a decorative vase. Alternately, you could gather a selection of vases of different shapes and sizes and put the same type of flower in each one.

If you’d like to make larger and more detailed flower arrangements, floral foam is the perfect base, which will give you something to stick the flowers into in order to hold their shape and provide support. This can be purchased with your flowers, either from a craft store or florist, and can be cut to fit. Soak it in water before you begin and it will keep the flowers fresh, then place it in the bowl or vase that you’re going to use for your flower arrangement. You can also try filling the bottom few inches of a clear glass vase with marbles or gravel for an interesting look that also provides support for the flowers.

Once your flower arrangement has a good, solid support base, it’s time for the fun part! Start from the center and build outwards, inserting greens and smaller flowers to fill in small spaces, larger blossoms as focal points and splashes of color, and any other seasonal or fun ornaments that you desire. Before long, you’ll have the perfect flower arrangement and the satisfaction of knowing that you created it all yourself!
